Beattock to St Mary's Loch
This is the last of the really long and arduous sections. Again vehicle support can be arranged to break the stage.
| From Beattock the Way crosses first the motorway and then three rivers before climbing up out of the farmland and into more forestry. This is a short section on the forest road and soon you have the opportunity to climb up onto the hills towards Ettrick Head. This is the border between Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. The Way soon joins a track which follows the Ettrick Water until Scabcleuch where it again heads up into the hills and heads towards St Mary's Loch. | |
