The New Hoard

In remote, secret places in The Southern Uplands of Scotland, sculptured kists can be found. These are the legacy of Waymerks, named after the hand-minted coins with which they were filled. Now the kists contain a new treasure.

May 2010- May 2011

To celebrate the launch of the New Hoard during the first 13 months, £1300 worth of prizes can be found in kists along the length of the Southern Upland Way!

To Take part:

1)Look carefully at both sides of the coin you have taken from a kist – is it a standard 13th design or is it a Prize 13th?
2)Standard 13th?  Well done, you have found a kist and collected your coin – you are well on your way to owning The Hoard.
3)Prize 13th?  To collect your share of the winnings, contact the appropriate Ranger Service without delay.  Contact details are in the New Hoard leaflet and on this website.
4)Look for another kist.

Competition Rules:

One Prize 13th will be issued each month between May 2010 and May 2011.

Each person can only win one prize. The prizes will be in the form of vouchers for an outdoor store and will represent 1/13 of the total amount of money available.

No person associated with the delivery of the Hoard project, or members of their families, are eligible to take part.

The Judges’ decision is final.

Prizes must be claimed within 6 months of the competition ending – i.e. Before December 2011.  Unclaimed prizes will be raffled and the proceeds donated to charity.
