From Traquair the Ultra Scotland® 100 Mile route climbs up onto the MINCH MOOR ridge >>>>> This track is one of the OLDEST paths in Scotland and was most likely a pre-Roman route traversed by MEDIEVAL monks, HIGHLAND drovers and the ARMIES of Edward I!!
When you get to the TOP of Minch Moor (at 567m; 1860ft) you’ll enjoy a really MAGNIFICENT view!
Improvement work begins between Portpatrick and Stranraer on the SUW. Today and yesterday I was working at Mulloch Hill. The weather beat me yesterday with the wind and snow on such an exposed hill, so I had to cut the day short and return today.
New information board , gate re-hung on new posts (multi-user gate on its way to go beside this gate) & waymarking improvements.
Also more to come. Major Broad Moor path drainage works between Mulloch Hill and Knockquhassen Farm B&B begin in March by contractors, as well as more multi-user gates to install when they arrive.
