Glentrool was looking fantastic today. Unfortunately this will be the last day we'll be out on the path for some time. We will still be posting stuff on here but it will be from my back garden or old photos that are still worth sharing. Take care everyone. TH
Here's your circular walk for the Day. It's meant to be a nice weekend too. More to follow next week. As I said yesterday, we'll try to do one a day for the next couple of weeks until we have a series of them setup for those wishing to get out of the house, both for families and more experienced walkers. No high scale maps, this is just to give ideas and inspiration!
Earshaig Lochans Beattock / Moffat
Car parking marked with the Blue 'P'.
Tried and tested bike friendly and i'd go as far to say horse friendly too but a bit soft underfoot after rain. Picnic benches near the southern Lochan as well as SUW info panel and 2 chainsaw sculputres at South and North Lochan.
Green route also good for anyone who doesnt have to take kids along as will be too far for most young children.
Brattleburn Bothy is nearby the green route and is a good spot for a half way cuppa.
Dumfries and Galloway! Whats Going on ?
O N Us South West Scotland
If anyone would like to suggest some circular walks we will map them and add them to the collection for all to see. Please incorporate some Southern Upland Way into your walk with a nearby carparking area , and other routes can be followed back to the start
The SUW route is still open as usual, as are the rest of the walks in D&G . What better place to be than out in the fresh air?? Keep safe and don't go out your comfort zone to keep any unnecessary pressure off emergency services.
Accomodation providers will be pleased to see you , but call first to check they are open or not self isolating themselves .
So possibly one of the best ways to look after yourself during this worrying time, is to seek safe opportunities to get outside and to be active, whilst avoiding unnecessary social contact. And providing you are free of symptoms; advice is that being in the outdoors is as good a place as any.
The footpaths I was working on today were actually very busy with locals. We are soon to start publishing circular walks suitable for both families and also more experienced walkers . These are for anyone to use and within a few weeks we'll have a nice collection published here covering the Western SUW . Take your wellies as some parts may be wet underfoot, but it's got to be better than sitting in the house.
Maps and suggested circular SUW walks to follow soon for families trying to keep kids entertained cheaply and minds active
