Many walkers prefer to gradually complete the Way in short sections, perhaps just at weekends or whenever time and the weather suits them. Such walkers need to be as well prepared as those walking the whole route in one attempt.
The Official Guide is divided into thirteen sections, each of which is described in detail. This will allow planning of short manageable sections within their capabilities. Extra planning of transport logistics will be necessary.
Short Walks Booklets
These have been designed for casual walkers who would just like to sample a part of the Way. There are Short Walks booklets for the Western and Eastern sections of the Way. Walkers should follow the booklets’ safety recommendations.
To download Short Walks in the Western Section is free, but copies can be purchased from the Western Section Rangers for £3, which includes postage. A covering note and cheque can be written out to Dumfries & Galloway Council and sent to;
